More About Swami Radha
Swami Sivananda Radha (1911-1995) is the spiritual inspiration for Yasodhara Ashram.
A student of Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, she was initiated by him into the sacred order of sanyas in 1956. She returned to Canada to start a small ashram and metaphysical bookstore in Vancouver before founding Yasodhara Ashram in Kootenay Bay, BC in 1963.
A pioneer in the North American yoga movement of the mid 20th century, Swami Radha’s teachings continue to inspire the yogis of today.
Her major focus was on translating the mystical teachings of yoga into practical tools to help develop quality and meaning in daily life. Her teachings emphasize that the Divine Light is a commonality among spiritual traditions, and that the path of yoga is open to all.
